What are the different types of shower screens?
Frameless Shower Screens: Frameless shower screens have no visible frames or metal edges, providing a modern and minimalist look. They are usually made of 10mm thick toughened glass are are installed with hardware such as brackets and hinges.
Semi-Frameless Shower Screens: Semi-frameless shower screens have minimal framing around the edges of the glass panels. They are usually made of 6mm toughened glass and feature thin metal framing on the sides or top and bottom of the glass, providing structural support and stability.
Framed Shower Screens: Framed shower screens have metal frames surrounding each glass panel. The metal frames offer more visible support and are generally thicker than the framing on semi-frameless shower screens.
Sliding Shower Screens: Sliding shower screens feature a glass panel that slides along tracks to provide access to the shower area. Sliding shower screens are a popular choice for bathrooms with limited space where swinging doors are impractical.
Can I choose the size and design of my shower screen to fit my bathroom?
Absolutely! We stock a huge range of different glass sizes that can be mixed and matched to create the perfect combination for your shower area.
What type of glass is used for shower screens? Is it safe?
Shower screens are a made of toughened glass, which is a type of safety glass that is four to five times stronger than regular glass. It is designed to break into small, dull fragments instead of large, sharp shards, making it safe for use in bathrooms.
Are shower screens water-tight and prevent water leaks?
Properly installed shower screens usually prevent most water leakage. Since frameless shower screens do not have any metal framing around its edges compared to framed shower screens, some water may escape. To reduce this, we recommend using water seals and bars that can be easily installed and replaced.
Do you install shower screens?
Yes, we do offer a removal and installation service for shower screens. The installation of shower screen glass is a specialised trade and must only be carried out by a licensed tradesperson, such as a glazier or a builder with a relevant qualification.
